Weyerhaeuser has a unique opportunity for a Harvesting Forester in our Northern Kingdom unit based out of Lancaster, New Hampshire. The position is a field role with a focus on harvest planning and contract administration on approximately 110,000 acres of Northern New Hampshire/Northeast Vermont/Western Maine Timberlands. This is a full-time, exempt position, with salary level dependent on skills and experience.  The role is responsible for working with our Timberlands Team on all aspects of our forestry business to deliver best in class performance for the organization.

This is a full-time position that will report directly to the Lancaster Harvesting & Transportation Manager. The successful candidate will serve as a safety role model and have exemplary team skills and ability to establish a solid rapport with all internal and external stakeholders including counterparts, contractors, regulatory agencies, and easement holders.

Key Functions

  •        Participate in the planning and preparation of timber sales including harvest area identification,  timber marking, and layout and construction of logging roads.
  •        Logging contract administration and supply chain management including product merchandizing, quality control, and collaboratively finding productivity gains with our contract logging workforce.
  •        Implement silvicultural regimes that maximize the value of current harvest and future value of stands
  •        Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Conservation Easements, AMP/BMPs, and SFI principles.
  •        Maintain harvest plan and spatial/tabular detail for forest inventory maintenance in Integrated Land System.
  •        Interact with the public, government agencies and other industry professionals.
  •        Strong advocate for safety within the team and throughout the operation.

 

NOTE: This position is about 75% field time and necessitates working in all types of weather conditions and terrain.

  • Bachelors Degree (or higher), preferably in Forestry or related field 
  • Team player with ability to work effectively with people of varying backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent ArcGIS skills
  • Solid understanding of spruce/fir and northern hardwood silviculture preferred
  • Previous experience with managing and planning harvest operations preferred
  • Licensed State of Vermont, New Hampshire, and/or Maine Forester a plus
