We are seeking an experiencedHardware Engineering Leadto work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. In this role, you will lead a team of HW engineers, as well as develop FPGA designs implemented using VHDL for the following applications: controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces. Designers work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect new parts, collaborative modeling of algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies. Design support is expected from requirements definition through integration and test.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead HW Team and mentor junior engineers.
  • Help drive projects and execute to program schedules on time and budget.
  • Create complete documentation including requirements, design documentation, verification plan, and verification procedures.
  • Manage the Technical Data Package, including parts lists, drawings, and schematics.
  • Support internal and external technical reviews.
  • Provide engineering support to supply chain management and other vendors.
  • Design and deliver production quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept up to production
  • Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Translate system level requirements into FPGA requirements
  • Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
  • Verify design utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage

Qualifications/Experience Needed:
  • Digital design and VHDL coding
  • Xilinx or Microsemi devices and flow tools
  • Delivering FPGA solutions to system level applications
  • Developing and managing Technical Data Packages (hardware designs/drawings)
  • Hands on experience with integration and debug
  • Experience leading technical teams and programs
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Agile/SAFe experience
  • Jira experience
  • Experience with agile project management, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.

The position is based in St. Petersburg, FL, nicknamed "The Sunshine City" for its average of 248 days of sunshine a year. The area is ideal for fishing, boating, and beautiful top rated Gulf beaches. It's also known for its art and culture scene, as well as its wide variety of local restaurants and bars. For sports fans, The Tampa Bay area is home to the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB), Buccaneers (NFL), and Lightning (NHL). It is also the MLB Spring Training site for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies. Our location is easily commutable from several nearby areas, just 5 miles from Interstate 275; options for where to call "home" are plentiful within the Tampa Bay area. St. Petersburg is also close to Tampa International Airport and St. Pete Clearwater International Airport and roughly 90 miles to the Orlando theme parks.

Employee Referral Eligible
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
