Job Purpose:
As a Lead Embedded Software Engineer at RTD Talent, you will be responsible for spearheading development projects focused on embedded avionic systems and complementary ground support equipment. This role demands expertise in utilizing Linux and Microsoft Windows based compilers and debug tools. Your excellent communication and leadership skills, combined with a knack for effective project management, will be vital in driving complex engineering projects from specification to post-release maintenance. We are seeking a candidate with a strong commitment to process compliance, continuous improvement, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Architect System Designs: Lead the development of system designs and manage the complete product life cycle.
  • Language Proficiency: Utilize both assembly and high-level languages for target platforms, including Linux and/or Microsoft Windows.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Generate documentation adhering to RTCA DO-178 software design and documentation standards. Produce artifacts supporting RTCA DO-254 and DO-160 qualification.
  • Collaborative Interface: Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, FAA, governing agencies, vendor engineering representatives, and production/quality control personnel.
  • FPGA Development: Utilize high-level logic development languages (VHDL, Verilog) for FPGA based designs, ensuring necessary functionality implementation.
  • Electronic Circuitry Design: Independently or collaboratively participate in the design of electronic circuitry for developing products.
  • Product Ownership: Function as a technical product owner, define features, create schedules, mitigate risks, and provide expert support for products in the field.
  • Leadership and Delegation: Lead development projects, delegate tasks to assigned resources, and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Support Certification Activities: Provide support for FAA Certification activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in leading hardware engineering projects, preferably in avionics or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Microsoft Windows based compilers and debug tools.
  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160 standards.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, electronic circuitry, and FPGA development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, propose innovative ideas, and optimize solutions with minimal supervision.
