Job Description – Fitness Center Custodian

A key part of the team you are responsible for delivering a great customer experience; ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness are maintained within the facility and keeping areas tidy and safe to create a pleasant environment for members and visitors.

Additional Information

Main duties and Responsibilities:

Health & Fitness Areas

• Clean all floors, skirting boards, window ledges, glass panels.
• Clean lockers, clean marks off walls, light switches, sockets, etc.
• Dust and polish surfaces and clean windows within reach.
• Clean all toilets and showers and changing rooms, including tissue, hand towels and soap.
• Empty all bins.
• Weekly to descale sink taps/plugs, clean tiling and to change shower curtains as required
• Monthly to descale shower heads and record it accordingly.
• Work with minimum disturbance to building users, placing safety notices or informing people if likely to be any danger (wet floors, trailing cables, hazardous cleaning materials, etc.).
• Report any Health & Safety matters and/or damage or repair issues to the Gym Manager.

General

• Inform Gym Manager when running low on cleaning supplies and to collect replacement items as needed.
• Ensure equipment is safe for appropriate use and report if in need of repair/replacement.
• Work as a member of the team and provide support as required to colleagues; participate in team meetings and training provided; wear uniform/protective clothing and staff badge if supplied.
• To attend team meetings once a month.
• Attend all relevant training and development programmes.
• Undertake other reasonable duties at the request of the Gym Manager.
• Be aware of confidentiality issues and not get into situations where you may receive information which cannot be passed on.
• Respect and uphold the values of Level One Fitness.
• Duties are generally prescribed, although the post holder may determine in which order some tasks may be undertaken.

Operational

• Clean the Facility working to the cleaning schedules provided. Be aware of areas that become dirty and require extra attention and work with colleagues to ensure these are cleaned quickly.
• Ensure the changing room & toilet areas are checked regularly as per cleaning schedule, paying particular attention to restocking e.g. soaps & toilet rolls and shower areas e.g. floors, tiles and cubicle doors.
• Use chemicals safely and effectively as trained, using the correct chemicals for each job as per the cleaning schedule.
• Attend update training as required.
• Use all cleaning equipment and machinery effectively as trained, using the correct equipment for each job as per the cleaning schedule.
• Check all areas of the Facility regularly as per cleaning schedule and complete tasks as found using own initiative to prioritize the more urgent jobs that affect the members most.
• Undertake such other duties as the Gym Manager may from time to time reasonably require.

Customer Service/Quality

• Ensure that facility members and guests receive an efficient, friendly, consistent and personalized service and all areas of the Facility are at the highest levels of cleanliness.
• Manage customer feedback effectively; ensure any issues or compliments are passed to the Gym Supervisor/Manager and dealt with appropriately to enable long-term improvements in products and services.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness, personal appearance and hygiene in line with both company and legal requirements.
• Ensure any equipment faults, failure or maintenance issues are identified and reported to the Gym Supervisor or Duty Manager, as soon as discovered.
• Ensure you follow all health and safety regulations as trained,
• Comply with legal & facility requirements and that rules are observed by yourself, team members, members and guests to well-being when using the facility.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
