Guest Services Officer - Level 1

Chelsea Piers is seeking several full-time Guest Services Officers. There are multiple shifts available for this position.

A Level 1Guest Services Officer is the first person guests see when they come to Chelsea Piers. Officers set the initial expectation of customer service at Chelsea Piers. They must greet all customers professionally and courteously, assist them with questions, and give directions to specific sites. Guest Services Officers are also responsible for maintaining a safe place for all our customers and employees.
Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors and provide information and directions courteously and professionally
• Maintain safe, secure, and orderly sites and facilities
• Direct customer vehicles to proper parking locations and open spots, directdelivery and commercial vehicles to their drop-off and loading areas, direct cars, bikes, and pedestrians at crosswalks
• Report any/all hazardous situations
• Prohibit loitering, onsite consumption of alcohol, and use of illegal drugs
• Assist maintenance and parking departments when necessary, including seasonal snow removal
• Walk the site to guard against vandalism and theft
• Make scheduled facility rounds to ensure proper safety throughout the complex
• Complete accident reports when appropriate
• When closed, ensure all doors are securely locked and that there are no unauthorized persons in the complex
• Reporting boat arrivals and departures

Qualifications:

• Superior customer service skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds
• Ability to remain on feet, either standing at post or walking assigned area, for up to six hours at a time
• Ability to be outside in the elements while on exterior posts
• Must be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working in a team environment
• Ability to convey authority respectfully and professionally
• Must maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times
• Obtain FDNY Fire Guard certification F-03 within the first 90 days of employment
• Obtain Flagger Certification within the first six months of employment.

Tuition Assistance- Chelsea Piers supports employees' continuing education. After one (1) year of full-time service, you will be eligible to receive tuition assistance paid by Chelsea Piers in the amount of $750 annually for your first five (5) years of full-time employment and $1,500 annually after five (5) years of full-time employment. The education, instruction, or training must be job-related and/or or have the potential to strengthen your skills/knowledge and enhance your performance.

Transit Program- You will be eligible to participate in the Transit program, which allows for the pre-tax purchase of Transit debit cards that are used to purchase commuting tickets and passes from transit operators throughout the metropolitan area.

Employee Referral Program- We encourage our employees to refer their qualified family and friends to work at Chelsea Piers. For any referral who is hired and stays at Chelsea Piers a minimum of sixty (60) days, you will receive a referral bonus of $500 for full-time hires (minimum 35 hours per week) and $250 for part-time/non-seasonal hires (minimum twenty (20) hours per week).
