GENERAL SUMMARY

It is the responsibility of the Guest Services Assistant to assist passengers and customers, while providing world class service. Duties involve providing airport information and customer service through the Guest Services public desk and also throughout the terminal complex.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide information to passengers and the public concerning flight and airport information, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, convention activity, ground route information, and airport retail information.
  • Answer telephone calls originating from a bank of several telephone lines and respond to the callers concerning information set forth above.
  • Operate the public address paging system in the main terminal of the airport and convey messages to those paged.
  • Maintain a log of all message requests and successful delivery of the same.
  • Assist callers and people appearing in person who have deafness or who speak languages other than English.
  • Identify resources to assist members of the public.
  • Project a positive and professional image of the airport and industry.
  • Be pleasant and professional while executing excellent customer care and service.
  • Use a POS system to accept payments for various IAA fees.
  • Accept and distribute lost and found items and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Pack and ship lost and found items back to the owner.
  • Reserve meeting rooms and ensure payment is collected.
  • Escort various groups for the IAA Art and Welcome Programs.
  • Ability to become a Notary in the State of Indiana.
  • Perform any other functions assigned.
  • Perform all of the essential functions of the job outlined above without creating a direct threat to the safety of oneself, subordinates, or other person(s) in and around the airport.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from a standard high school or successful completion of a high school equivalency examination or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the duties of this position.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer-based software (i.e. Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate and comprehend English, both orally and in writing. The ability to speak and comprehend Spanish is a plus.
  • Minimum of two (2) years prior experience in public contact environment or airlines background.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for lengthy time periods.
  • Ability to see, hear, talk, write.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, office equipment, and telephones.
  • Ability to perform basic cashiering functions.
  • Ability to perform required essential job functions in with many distractions.
  • Ability to communicate precisely.
