MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) serves close to 6 million subway customers and 2.3 million bus customers on an average weekday. Its 50,000 employees provide mass transit and paratransit service throughout the five boroughs of New York City, including operating almost 7,000 subway cars at 472 stations.
The NYC Transit Department of Subways employs 30,000 individuals who work together 24/7, 365 days a year, to move millions of customers safely to their destinations. These employees operate trains, maintain railcars, assist customers in stations, make critical right-of-way or electronic repairs, and provide administrative support to deliver timely and reliable customer services.
Compensation:
Salary Range (Grade F/Hay Points 516): $77,463 - $114,945
UTLO Rate: $118,000
Responsibilities:
The Department of Subways is seeking dynamic, customer-focused leaders for the role of Group Station Superintendent, OCC. The OCC Group Station Superintendent will have front-line, direct accountability for the safe, efficient, timely and customer-focused execution of functions related to travel, while in the system. The Group Station Superintendent, OCC will assign and direct staff responsible for providing accurate, real-time travel and fare information, as well as responding to all customer and employee needs under their purview. They will supervise those under their charge in and out of the OCC while working in compliance with NYCT rules, regulations, effective labor relations and personnel policies. The chosen candidate must conduct themselves at all times in a professional manner required of all NYCT managers.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and five (5) years of full-time related experience; of which two (2) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity;
Or, a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of the environment, organization and operation of rail transportation systems and station operations.
  • Knowledge of automated fare collection, construction trades and ADA regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures including OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively manage a group of employees in a fast paced and highly customer focused environment.
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and experience working in an environment where safety is a key component.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels in the organization, including represented employees.
  • Excellent public relations, verbal, and written communication skills.

Selection Method :
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
