YOU

As a Group Product Manager, you will Manage a group of Product Managers and product matters related to Mechanical Anchors for concrete in order to meet established company targets. You will synthesize the customer cues, industry and the market needs to create products that profitably grow the Mechanical Anchor product segment. You will collaborate with Product Managers, sales managers and focus market committees to prepare an annual product line business plan that is based on well-defined product market research, detailed product information, price points, sales forecasts, special features of new and existing products. You will coordinate with selling branches to recommend pricing and initial channels of distribution. You will also lead the development of new mechanical anchor products by coordinating interdepartmental teams (Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Sourcing, and Production) to develop, launch and drive sales of new products ensuring execution is in line with the project plan.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

General responsibility for managing a mechanical anchor product portfolio. (20%)

Work with customers, sales, Product Managers and R&D/engineering to identify and develop needed products and product applications within the assigned lines. (20%)

Lead, motivate and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. (10%)

Develop new product definition, financial analysis of the opportunity and development timeline. (10%)

Work with marketing to develop appropriate marketing material to support the product portfolio throughout the product life cycle to maximize product revenue. (10%)

Manage the product life cycle including product rationalization, profitability and future requirements based on market changes. (10%)

Lead product training of Simpson personnel and assist in training activities at branches for customers as needed. (5%)

Work with sales and regional engineering personnel to advance industry knowledge and relationships. (5%)

Work in the field to look for product and application opportunities from internal and external sources. (5%)

Strategically work with industry related organizations within assigned product line purview to maximize impact of Simpson product revenue. (5%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 8 years related experience in product management or product development.
  • 5 years experience with mechanical anchor products.
  • 2 years experience managing others.
  • Career Level: Must possess strong industry knowledge in concrete anchoring and have the ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects. May make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
  • Vision: Proven ability to exhibit a growth mindset. Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.
  • Communication / Team Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the company and facilitate discussions and debate, mediate conflict, and nurture a collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Math: Ability to calculate and analyze figures and amounts such as interest, market pricing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Solid understanding of business financials.

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires domestic travel up to 25% of the time. Travel will increase if this is a remote position.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Gallatin, TN, and is available to work remote.

$102300 - $138100 / year

  • Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
