If you are interested in developing exciting new technologies that enable safe, efficient, and secure transportation for the nation, the Air Traffic Control Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory may be the place for you. We work in a wide range of mission areas, including weather sensing and forecasting, climate change mitigation, Air Traffic management, advanced air mobility, aviation cyber security, and military logistics. Our group brings together experts across multiple disciplines – systems analysis, meteorology, mathematics, computer science, aerospace engineering, human factors, and others – to address challenging and impactful real-world transportation problems. The Air Traffic Control Systems Group is developing a range of advanced technologies to improve transportation and logistics safety and/or efficiency. This summer internship position project will involve the design and development of algorithms and software for next-generation transportation and logistics decision support systems. The candidate will participate on a product development team and support multiple aspects of the project, potentially including algorithm development leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, user interface design and development, back end software infrastructure development, and documenting software. Typical development languages include Java, Python, C++, and/or MATLAB.
The successful candidate will be pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. Experience in software development (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java) required.
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
