Grounds Keeper For Thursday - Monday

Position Summary:
This position works Thursday - Monday. This person will be responsible for grounds all aspects of artificial turf maintenance including the grounds, turning irrigation on and off as needed, service requests, preventative maintenance, and striping as well as communicating and maintaining a positive relationship with managers and ownership.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and maintain various grass and artificial turf athletic field surfaces
• Monitor irrigation needs
• Remove and Dispose of Trash and Litter
• Maintain common grounds areas through removal of trash, weeds, etc.
• Operate small equipment such as ATV’s, Gators, Golf Carts, ride on and walk behind mowers
• Follows directions from the Crew Leader or Foreman; performs landscape maintenance functions (e.g., pulling weeds, raking leaves, sweeping sidewalks, and cleaning debris)
• Waters vegetation using a hose; cleans canals, drains, and tree wells;
• Operates light landscape equipment (e.g., 21" mower, leaf blower, weed eater, stick edger, and hedge trimmer) and other landscape equipment (e.g., 36", 48" and riding lawn mowers)
• Plants vegetation as instructed
• Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety
• Attends safety meetings and adheres to PPE usage Other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies

• Knowledge of irrigation is helpful
• Ability to think ahead and completes tasks efficiently within budget and timelines
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to be trained in and then identify weeds, insects, and plants correctly
• Communicates well with others using basic English and/or Spanish
• Safety Minded: Performs all job functions safely; complies with all safety policies, procedures, and standards (e.g., PPE, proper lifting, wears seat belt when in a vehicle); reports all safety-related incidents to supervisor immediately; attends all safety meetings
• Demonstrates Punctuality/Attendance: Shows up to work each day on time; completes all tasks within time expectations; adheres to company dress code policy, follows inclement weather policy and attendance policy and procedures

Education/Experience/Licenses

•  Previous landscape maintenance experience with any irrigation knowledge – preferred
• 1+ year of Grounds Keeper and artificial turf landscape maintenance - PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
• Any manual labor experience, and working outdoors - preferred
• 18+ years of age - REQUIRED
• HS Diploma or Equivalent - preferred

Work Environment

•  Will work outside in the field in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including sun, rain, snow, wind
• Will be in direct sunlight for extended periods of time

Physical Requirements

•  In this role you will frequently stand, walk, climb or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
