Who We Are

Warm Belly Farms is a growing farm business with locations in Fort Atkinson and Cottage Grove, WI. Since our start in 2018, the farm has been expanding its mission to grow high quality produce and offer unique picking and agricultural experiences while integrating modern farming practices. In 2023, we opened a second location in Cottage Grove where we focus on agritourism events, our garden center, and expanding to a second hydroponic strawberry operation. Our Fort Atkinson location specializes in hydroponic strawberry production, high-density apple production, cut flowers, and agritourism. Warm Belly is described as, “the feeling of full happiness!”

Hours & Schedule

(20-25 hours/week): The position would start in April-May and run through October. Our ideal candidate(s) would be available to work in the mornings 5 days a week. The garden center and strawberry operation will be open 7 days a week. Flexibility in scheduling could be considered for the right candidate.

This is an opportunity to join our growing farm and work with our Horticulturist and garden center staff on expanding our newest hydroponic strawberry operation!

Skills

• No previous experience required. Job training provided
• Background, basic knowledge, or previous experience in horticulture, greenhouse production, or pest & disease management is a plus
• Attention to detail is necessary
• Ability to work on repetitive solo tasks and work well with others
• Ability to stand/walk for several hours. This position requires you to be on your feet.
• Friendly and willing to engage with customers
• Self-motivated and willing to learn
• Ability to adapt as we continue to learn and fine tune our operations

Duties:

• Plant strawberry plugs
• Engage with and learn best management practices of hydroponic strawberry production. This includes duties such as: removing runners, cleaning plants by removing bad blooms, leaves, or berries, and tucking trusses
• Guide customers through their u-pick experience! Answer basic questions about the operation and our business
• Daily & weekly cleaning duties
• Learn to grade berries for harvest
• Harvest and package berries for purchase
• Learn what basic pest or disease issues look like and communicate any concerns with Head Grower as necessary
• May be asked to collect data or monitor systems
• May be asked to help with other garden center related tasks

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
