Integrity Educational Services is currently seeking a full-time Preschool Teacher Assistant to serve the Hope Academy of West Michigan's Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year!
Integrity Educational Services (IES) is the non-profit educational service provider for Hope Academy of West Michigan and Lighthouse Academy. At our Lighthouse Academy locations, we offer residential programs serving youth and adults in detention facilities, correctional facilities or intervention-based programs as well as community programs serving court-placed students, English Language Learners (ELL), students with Special Education needs, etc. Hope Academy is a general charter school in Grand Rapids, MI serving a large population of ELL and Title I qualifying students.

GENERAL PURPOSE: The classroom GSRP Teacher Assistant is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational program for assigned students by providing additional support for the teacher. Responsible for non-instructional and concept/skill reinforcement tasks. Subscribe to the vision, mission and values of Integrity Educational Services and the applicable academy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with individual and small groups of students.
  2. Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  3. Assist children with personal health care needs.
  4. Works collaboratively and communicates with the classroom teacher regarding children's behavior and progress.
  5. Follows written IEP and support plans and ensure requirements of IEP are followed in relation.
  6. Collects and documents data regarding the student(s).
  7. Supervise students in classrooms, halls cafeterias, and/or playground.
  8. Assist with loading and unloading of children from the buses, where applicable.
  9. When needed, assist with the medical needs of students.
  10. Assist with the grooming needs of students, including toiletry as needed.
  11. Observe students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
  12. Maintain accurate and complete student records.
  13. Work closely with school building principal, support staff, teachers, volunteers and students.
  14. Perform all other duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, experience, competencies, knowledge and skills are listed below.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability or competence required.
Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree in early childhood education or child development, or the equivalent, or; a valid classroom CDA credential.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees of the organization. Spanish preferred.
Mathematic Skills: Ability to do simple computations, calculate percentages, and use a calculator.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft applications and/or willingness to learn needed computer skills specific to this position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Michigan teaching certificate with Early Childhood (ZS) endorsement.
Training: Must participate in and complete annual training, Professional Development, and various other training as deemed appropriate for position.
Other Qualifications: Must pass criminal history records search, physical and drug screen, if required. Must pass a TB test.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information. The employee is frequently required to walk, and move about within the school. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters in a school environment. The employee routinely uses standard office/classroom equipment such as computers, tablets, smartboards, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Pay: Up to $30,000 per year, DOE
The contracted teaching days will be 185 days/school year.
