Graphic Artist / Technical Editor

Gannett Fleming’s Environmental Management & Natural Resources Team is seeking one or more highly motivated Technical Editors, Graphic Artists, and desktop publishers to provide technical expertise across a diverse client base for variety of assignments. The successful candidates will be part of teams of planners, scientists, and engineers working to deliver infrastructure projects in the public sector across a variety of markets and sectors.

While the ideal candidate(s) would be based out of our Harrisburg, PA office, we are open to location for the right individuals. While we envision these positions to be full-time positions, a part-time position is possible.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high quality and visually attractive technical reports, many of which take months to prepare.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Working independently and collaborating with teams of planners, scientists, and engineers to deliver infrastructure projects in the public clients across a variety of markets and sectors.
• Leading the preparation of high quality and visually appealing technical reports for a variety of audiences using publishing software. These reports vary in length, complexity, and necessary time to prepare them and are subject to scrutiny.
• Writing original content under the direction of a skilled planner, scientist, or engineer.
• Proofreading, revising, and editing text prior to publishing.
• Creating visually appealing and easy-to-understand illustrations to inform.
• Formatting text and spreadsheets.
• Positioning text and illustrations in an engaging way to design page layout, for print or online or both, using knowledge of type styles and size and layout patterns.
• Checking preliminary and final proofs for errors and make corrections.
• Sending files to a commercial printer.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Associate degree in English, communications, graphic arts, publishing, or related field.
• 2-5 years of progressive experience requried 
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.
• Strong technical writing abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office products.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
• Strong critical thinking, active listening, and speaking skills
  Artistic aptitude
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills with integrity and attention to detail.
