Job Summary

Serve as subject matter expert and advisor within a college or an academic unit on matters related to sponsored research program administration in accordance with Institute and sponsor policies. Assist faculty with pre- and post- award grant activities including budget development, proposal preparation, sub-award initiation and accounting, and advising department financial staff on issues related post-award grant management.
This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, staff, and outside sponsors.
This position typically will advise and counsel: Faculty, staff, and students.
This position may supervise assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Assist faculty with budget development and proposal preparation for grant requests. Read solicitations, proof and edit proposal documents, prepare forms and all required paperwork.
Job Duty 2 -
Enter proposals into sponsor systems and route proposals to Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).
Job Duty 3 -
Assist faculty with post-award management, particularly sub-award initiation and accounting.
Job Duty 4 -
Liaise with management and staff with OSP and Grants & Contracts Accounting regarding sponsored research grants and contracts issues.
Job Duty 5 -
Provide advice and counsel to the School Chair, Director of Business Operations, Director of HR, and departmental finance staff regarding issues related to sponsored research plans, proposals and projects.
Job Duty 6 -
May coordinate with faculty on deliverables and financial reports.
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Certified Research Administrator, Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator, or Certified Financial Research Administrator
Required Experience
Five to seven years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires familiarity with the grant proposal process and government budget circulars; ability to interpret and explain complex policies and government language; excellent writing and communication skills.
