Job Summary:
The Operations Trainee is responsible for learning the fundamentals of facility operations and logistics, as well as inventory management. Training is conducted within a mentorship framework, necessitating a high degree of interaction with management. The Operations Trainee is given progressive responsibility and customer contact within the facility management program which will help develop the necessary skills to safely and profitably manage a facility. This program takes anywhere between 9 to 18 months depending on individual performance and company needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Effectively operate and maintain the facility and machinery
- Facilitate product shipment and delivery
- Learn processes and skills for proper grain grading, conditioning and monitoring
- Blend products to meet customer needs and maximize profitability
- Develop and implement plant safety controls
- Develop a working knowledge of the relationship between operations and merchandising teams
- Inform Superintendent and/or Location Manager of any safety hazards, environmental issues or system deficiencies in the workplace
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments
- Assist in leading workers onsite, including contractors, temps, and service providers
- Assist in providing leadership and ensure compliance with all required safety, regulatory, environmental, and company programs, including Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding Occupation Health and Safety, Environmental Protection, and Operational Permit requirements

- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed
- Regulate record keeping for all incidents according to health and safety standards
- Recommend process improvements as necessary
- Assist Superintendent and Location Manager with crew development and training as needed
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
- Ability to work and interact well with others
- Secondary education in Agriculture, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Positive and self-motivated attitude
- Farming background a plus
Special Demands:
- Heavy-duty, operational, mechanical, and technical hands-on responsibilities
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend
- Frequently required to lift or move more than 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Outdoor work environment, including heights and inclement weather, approximately 80% of the time
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
