The Merchandiser Accounting Assistant will have primary responsibility in backing up our Grain Accounting Clerks and our Grain Merchandisers. This will include entering and applying grain tickets, settling grain both inbound and outbound, billing rail cars and other duties associated with accounting practices.
Merchandising aspects will include talking to farmers, giving out bids, entering contracts, answering accounting questions, providing documents to the farmer as requested/
We are specifically looking for someone who would like to develop into a Grain Merchandiser role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide daily bid sheets and Internet market information.
- Effectively manage the Superior Ag Hedge Desk, including its day-to-day operations; hedge transactions throughout the day and keep Superior Ag hedged at all times.
- Generate customer and contracting information for the merchandising team.
- Originate and Merchandise bushels of corn, soybean, wheat.
- Build relationships with Superior Ag current customer base and generate new relationships with other area farmers not currently utilizing Superior Ag's grain division.
- Review market information to enhance knowledge and understanding of grain markets.
- Audit grain settlements to ensure accurate payment.
- Assist and offer support with truck and rail shipments and preparing invoices.
- Entry and application of inbound grain tickets, contract entry, settlement of grain tickets for farmers.
- Assist in the billing process of grain loaded out an invoicing, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Assist with Grain Accounts Receivable.
- Assist the grain merchandising team in answering calls, giving out current prices, contracting grain, inputting contracts and or pricing.
- Handling customer inquiries for documentation.
- Building professional relationships with our customers.
- Entering trades and balancing the trade position/
- Make web page updates.
- Adhere to Superior Ag's risk policy.
- Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the Grain Division Manager.
- Read and follow Superior Ag employee policies.
- There are no supervisory responsibilities.
- Preferred but not required bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrate good personal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
- Prefer knowledge of Microsoft GP software.

Physical Requirements:
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
