Job Description:
The Student Academic Hub is looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant who will help support the function and work under the direct supervision of a faculty or staff mentor as an Academic Coach.
Academic Coaches typically work one-on-one with students as academic tutors, academic advisors or academic support coaches in other Academic Hub offices.
All GTA - Academic Coaches should attend GTA training prior to starting their position.Specifically, GTA tutors are expected to be academic role models for undergraduate tutors, other undergraduate students, and their peers. They should demonstrate academic excellence, ethical integrity, and enthusiasm for learning. GA tutors assist students to become more successful and independent learners and writers. GTA tutors use appropriate tutoring strategies to help students meet their learning objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position focuses primarily on student academic support.
Depending on their areas of expertise, the GTA tutor will:
- Provide or coordinate instruction, including individual tutoring or discussion sessions for graduate and undergraduate students;
- Facilitate dropin labs and group review sessions;
- Develop and deliver training materials for undergraduate tutors;
- Develop and deliver workshops as required;
- Conduct research and collect data related to tutoring;
- Analyze tutoring data;
- Mentor a group of undergraduate tutors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicant must be enrolled as a fulltime or parttime graduate student (6 credits per semester) at Marymount University
- MS Office Knowledge
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Strong skills in research, writing, and interpersonal communication
- Ability to take and follow directions
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with technologies commonly used for educational purposes, such as
- Canvas, TutorTrac, Zoom, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior tutoring, teaching, counseling, or coaching experience
