Graduate Program Specialist

Posting Summary:Support the research, graduate research and graduate education mission, and undergraduate research activities for the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Provide program support for graduate students and faculty advisers for funded and self-funded graduate students in the College. Assist the CEMS Graduate Programs Coordinator with marketing efforts for CEMS Graduate Programs and recruiting applicants. Work with the faculty Graduate Program Directors and the College Graduate Program Coordinator to facilitate the graduate admissions process and the development of graduate student funding letters. Provide ongoing support for graduate students once they enroll in the College, including HR and payroll support. Serve as liaison with faculty, current and prospective students, and other campus offices and organizations. Support students in University academic processes. Collaborate with the CEMS Graduate Program Coordinator to run Graduate Program informational sessions and professional development and social events. Perform business and program support for the research centers and projects of the College. Serve as a financial and coordination resource for Center directors and principal investigators. Assist in student funding tracking and distribution (fellowships, scholarships, research experiences). Provide sponsored event support and coordination for workshops, seminars, conferences, and sponsor visits.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):Bachelor’s Degree and one to three years related experience required. Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite required. Effective interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills required. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion regarding confidentiality and sensitivity required.
Desirable Qualifications:Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials/Human Resources system platforms. Experience coordinating events including conferences and workshops. Familiarity with the processes and software used by the UVM Graduate College (Banner and Admit).
Other Information:Final compensation will be determined in consideration of candidate’s experience and in consideration of candidate’s departmental peers per the University’s administration of the UVM Staff United compensation guidelines.
