1.Communication: The Research Assistant will clearly and effectively communicate with (1) the Principal Investigator (PI) and (2) participants for coordinating the experiment sessions and executing research experiments.
2.Professionalism: The Research Assistant will demonstrate punctuality and respect for both PI and colleagues. The Research Assistant will prioritize and complete tasks to accomplish the research goals.
Essential Functions:
The position may involve some or all of the following.
1. Ability to conduct experiments accurately and in a timely manner
2. Maintain, calibrate and operate field and laboratory instruments to measure various environmental parameters
3. Prepare chemical solutions and perform various wet chemistry tests
4. Prepare solutions, set-up and assist faculty with laboratory classes
5. Enter, clean and analyze data using Excel spreadsheets and applicable statistical programs
6. Understand and practice lab safety protocols
7. Be able to operate a university vehicle for transporting students to field sites
8. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and requirements of the position.
Research assistants selected for this position are required to present the outcomes of their experience at Celebrate Gannon and/or other venues determined by the college.
Experience: General chemistry coursework or experience performing wet chemistry tests.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Must have a driver's license.
