JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the daily business operations of the golf shop and outside golf operations. Provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere which will encourage residents and guests to have an enjoyable and safe time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

  • Schedule and supervise golf shop staff members and outside staff members.
  • Supervise all golf shop business transactions including:
    1. Daily greens fee sales
    2. Retail sales
    3. Tournament entry fees
    4. Golf car rental fees
    5. Cash or credit transactions
  • Assist PGA Golf Professional / Head Golf Professional with interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance appraisals, rewarding, coaching and disciplining employees, and addressing and resolving complaints and problems.
  • Understand completely the daily closing procedures and supervise the completion of accounting sheets and reports.
  • Maintain computer records of sales activities & recognize and correct financial irregularities.
  • Train staff members to use the following office equipment:
    1. Cash register
    2. Credit card scanner
    3. Adding machine
    4. Copier
    5. Fax machine
    6. Laminating machine
    7. Multi-line digital telephone
    8. District scanners and pool scanners
  • Submit recommendations of inventory purchases and controls to the PGA Golf Professional / Head Golf Professional.
  • Work closely with Facility Inventory Coordinator to maintain thorough records of inventory purchases, transfers and returns.
  • Maintain reconciliation system for purchase orders, packing slips and invoices.
  • Supervise the purchase of golf shop supplies other than retail merchandise.
  • May also provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or portfolio specific training to co-workers.
  • Assist in the supervision of golf shop team members and outside staff members.

Additional

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma and five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

Knowledge

  • Must have working knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, management practices and office procedures.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicant must have strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Abilities

  • Ability to read/write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

EQUIPMENT (Includes, but not limited to)

Position regularly requires the use of golf cart, office and sales equipment, including but not limited to, telephones, computers and productivity software.

  • Occasionally to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions (including extreme heat, rain or cold).
  • To noise level in the work environment that is usually moderate.
  • Interior office environments, with moderate to loud noise typical for the work environment when in office setting with moderate noise of computers and printers and moderate customer traffic.
  • Personal protective equipment must be always worn if the job requires such equipment.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Operate the foot control on golf cars.
