Golf Shop Merchandise Coordinator
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Golf Shop Salesperson
Job Description:
Work directly with the Head Professional to ensure the success of the Pro Shop merchandise operation. Provide an exceptional member and guest experience in the Pro Shop by guaranteeing the highest member service possible. Be a key “front-line” staff member by being visible and accessible to the membership. Perform the daily tasks at the pro-shop counter and other related areas. Professionally, conduct oneself and maintain a professional image at all times.
Primary Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Oversee Pro Shop golf merchandising operation to achieve its established financial goals.
- Oversee the development of buying plans and all golf merchandise-related purchasing.
- Merchandise golf apparel and accessories per member preference and industry trends.
- Create and maintain an inviting appearance in and around the golf Pro Shop.
- Maintain product documentation from purchase to sale, including purchase orders, receiving records, invoice validation payment, inventory records, and special-order records to document merchandise history.
- Train, develop, and supervise Pro Shop associates to ensure effective sales, service performance, and product knowledge.
- Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors.
- Work effectively with the accounting department while reconciling all invoices and assisting with billing issues.
- Required to conduct monthly inventory on all Golf Shop merchandise.
- Represent the Club in negotiations on terms, discounts, and incentives with all Golf Shop vendors.
Experience / Skills:
- Exceptional knowledge in merchandising operations.
- Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market golf products and services.
- Remain current on merchandising innovations, marketing, and business trends.
- Member-focused attitude, providing exceptional service at all times.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf is preferred but not required.
- Experienced computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and POS systems.
Miscellaneous:
The Pro Shop Merchandiser position requires the individual to manage the merchandise and supervise the daily operations in the Pro Shop. This year-round position requires complete knowledge of the golf operation policies and procedures and being able to run the operation alone during stretches in the off-season. Flexible scheduling during the peak season and off-season. All applicants must be able to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or reach.
