Job description

The Chapin School, an independent K-12 day school for girls located in New York City, is seeking a Golf Coach for the 2024 season.

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Golf Coach will provide guidance with skill development and planning throughout the season. Candidates should have knowledge and experience within the sport and understand how to teach, mentor, and motivate student-athletes.
A Chapin athletic coach demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, abilities:
• Clear commitment to the educational philosophy and mission of the School and Athletic Department and any ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
• Is an effective communicator and educator who is able to teach athletes of all skill levels and abilities and understands the importance of listening as a key component of teaching.
• Understands the sport. Not only must they possess in-depth knowledge of fundamental skills, progressions, and strategies, but must also be able to adapt teaching instruction to all athletes.
• Models professional leadership and behavior by adhering to the same rules expected of the athletes, displaying a positive attitude, and motivating and inspiring the team.
• Knowledge of appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of student-athletes.
The Golf Coach's specific duties and responsibilities will include:
• 4 days per week. 2 days per week on the golf course. 2 days at the driving range or at a facility with a simulator.
• Season: February 26th through May 10th. Typical schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays.
• Special events requiring additional hours and responsibilities as discussed with Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Candidates must possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• Has Golf Coaching experience with youth aged athletes. Experience working with school age children preferred.
• Ability to attend team practices, meetings, and matches March - May.
The compensation for this position is in the range of $5500-$6500 for the season
