The Chemical Operator GMP I operates equipment or semiautomatic system that processes chemicals into specified products in a cGMP certified area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build production batches in cGMP area
Read, follow, fill out and maintain all batch documentation in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Document Practice standards.
Load and offload chemicals
Operate pumps and filters
Monitor temps and run speeds
Performs in-process testing
Maintain work area for housekeeping, safety and 6S
Knowledge of scales and measuring systems
Interact with QC lab and R&D
Trouble shoot basic equipment to determine problems and put in work requests for repairs
Basic knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties including danger signs, production techniques and disposal methods
Determine causes of operating errors and implementing actions to eliminate reoccurrences
Training of other employees in the production area
Interact with customer service and production planning as required
Maintain CHT standards and values for quality, safety and environmental objectives as well as meeting achieving KPI’s targets
Maintains positive team atmosphere and productivity
All other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED minimum, associates or bachelor degree preferred.
5+ years of similar chemical operator or related experience
Certified to drive forklift required (or ability to certify within 90 days)
Effective written and oral communication
Computer Skills, such as Microsoft Applications and experience with System Application & Products
Knowledge & Skills
Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems
Knowledge and ability to work in an environment covered by OSHA’s PSM standards. Processes that generate high pressure and/or temperature, require handling hazardous chemicals and can potentially generate hazardous environments will be encountered.
Training in hazardous material handling and emergency procedures is required
Willingness to attend training outside the work environment
Ability to lift 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort may occasionally be present in the work environment (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazards may be possible. Health hazard precautions may have to be implemented in some instances (safety glasses, latex gloves, etc.).
