Global Trade Compliance Specialist
Position Summary:
Catalent Pharma Solutions in Kansas City, MO is hiring a Global Trade Compliance Specialist. This role is responsible to oversee and manage all matters related to foreign trade, import and export activities, and compliance to all government trade regulations as well as other associated PGAs. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible to create, implement and manage internal policies and procedures to ensure site-wide compliance with all international trade laws, trade regulations and requirements applicable to all the site international trade actions and activities.
This is a full-time role position: Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Catalent's Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery, Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms, from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacture. The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. The Role

  • International Trade Compliance Site SME. Act as site's primary point of contact for all import/export and US Customs matters for the Corporate Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team
  • Actively engage Regulatory, Distribution, Project Management and Business Development groups and provide guidance on trade and transportation compliance matters as well as import/export requirements to ensure compliance risks are mitigated appropriately
  • Lead Global Trade Compliance functions including but not limited to: creation, revision, updating of Trade Compliance SOPs, creation of training modules and conducting relevant training sessions; reviewing and analyzing all international documentation, communicating key Trade Compliance topics to internal staff, ensuring compliance of all import/export related legal declarations, ensuring relevant records are maintained per regulations and researching applicable regulations
  • Investigates and resolves import/export discrepancies and customer complaints. Develop and implement new operating procedures, if applicable. Where applicable, review and approve PRs, CAPAs - Quality Complaints, deviations, correction controls and service complaints
  • Instruct, mentor and monitor applicable employees on general international supply chain and freight forwarding rules and regulations, international transportation basics, as well as foreign country import controls and requirements inclusive of IATA, FMC and other applicable PGAs.
  • Give guidance and instruction to Site Staff on tariff classification (Harmonized Tariff Code), country of origin determination, valuation according to World Trade Organization rules, Importer & Exporter of Record requirements and responsibilities, Dangerous Goods guidelines, Export Administration Regulations (EAR) as set out under 15 CFR 730 et seq., Commerce Control List (CCL) and any other regulations/requirement under the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) as well as any other applicable requirements of other government agencies (PGAs) such as the FDA, USDA, US Customs, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Wherever needed, assist Site staff to prepare, maintain and disseminate template documents for Catalent international transactions to ensure accurate and compliant documentation and reporting
  • Responsible for review of import and export documents, procedures and file maintenance, import and export declarations, advance security filing, and management of international agents and related partners such as government agencies, transportation providers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure all relevant Code of Federal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Distribution summaries are reviewed and being followed in accordance with applicable law and company policy
  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate
  • Bachelors Degree or 10 years relevant experience
  • 10-15 years hands-on experience in International Freight Forwarding, Transportation and Trade Compliance Management
  • In-depth hands-on expertise in the Harmonized Code System and Explanatory Notes & US Customer classification
  • Extensive engagement/experience with the FDA, USDA, BIS as well as IATA and the FMC
  • Proven experience in identifying, re-engineering and implementing Global Trade and Transportation compliance procedures and processes
  • 10-15+ years' experience working/managing 3PLs, wholesalers, warehouse operations, freight consolidators, international couriers/carries
  • Position requires a significant amount of writing and keyboarding involving repetitive motions with fingers and sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Position requires extensive use of the telephone and face-to-face communications, which requires the accurate perception of speech
  • Position may require extended shifts or overtime to meet timelines
