Job Summary

This position will support and influence the success of a critical global growth initiative driving the expansion of Quaker Houghton’s Operating Solutions. The product portfolio of Operating Solutions includes a comprehensive offering of Industrial Lubricants, fire resistant hydraulic fluids, and specialty greases. The Director will be responsible for the development of strategic plans supporting our 2030 growth targets including the business plan & roadmap, regional growth targets and investments, value propositioning, supply chain support, and partnership developments for new routes to market.

The position holder will own the development of strategy components (product, pricing & margin, promotion & marketing) and will be a key interface between the strategy and commercial, R&D and IT teams to support execution and capability development related to both grease and Industrial Lubricants with emphasis on fire resistant fluids. This leader will collaborate and partner with Commercial functions to drive growth and market share increases across key industry segments with the portfolio and support with training in delivery of value proposition and customer use cases. The Global Industry Leader will support development of clear go-to market strategies and value propositions related to product, pricing, promotion using customer segmentation to increase QH market share and competitive differentiation. This role also works closely with strategic product line management, R&D/COI on next generation of Operating Solutions focusing on performance improvements and future sustainability of the formulations.

The Global Industry Leader will be part of the strategy function at QH working through strong influence within the matrix organization and partnering with other functional areas as needed in Supply Chain, Operations, Human Resources, Finance and Procurement to communicate support requirements and investment required to support ongoing growth and success of fluid intelligence business plan.

What will you do

  • Accountable for development and management of the strategic roadmap and business plan for Operating Solutions portfolio.
  • Develops and communicates routine updates to strategic plan including product & channel strategy, market and competitive activity, new product development, pricing & margin targets and promotional marketing needs. Measures and reports progress against key milestones and metrics.
  • Partners with regional and global commercial teams to ensure execution of strategy and achievement of 2030 profitable growth targets. Supports development of industry & customer value proposition into new and existing markets.
  • Work with R&D and COI teams to define priorities for new product development and ensure timely delivery of advancements in technology and sustainability. Engage with Industry, Product Portfolio & Commercial teams to prioritize customer/industry applications along with ROI & Forecast calculations to support financial investment.
  • Coordinate OEM activity and relationships in concert with GSPLM team for approvals and preferred recommendations.
  • Monitor competitive landscape across QH portfolio related to Operating Solutions including market trends, customer and OEM developments, and competitive products launched across Operating Solutions applications.
  • Routinely engage Commercial and Strategy Leaders on Operating Solutions offering and targeted applications.
  • Communicate progress and industry trends to all levels of the organization, including regional and executive management. Establish required governance and cadence across functional and regional commercial teams to encourage alignment, partnership and timely completion of planned objectives and milestones.
  • Develop new strategic partnerships to penetrate new areas of applications for Operating Solutions.
  • Identify potential M&A candidates for Operating Solutions for strategic growth and maintain an active pipeline. Builds relationships with key targets.

What do we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Business Management, Chemistry, Chemical, or Mechanical or Lubrication Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in sales, strategy and business development with technical understanding/competency in industrial and mechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of connectivity with Industry 4.0. and automation of production performance is a plus.
  • Driving for Results: Setting high goals for personal and group accomplishment; using measurement methods to monitor progress toward goal attainment; tenaciously working to meet or exceed those goals.
  • Well-developed business acumen and the ability to apply analytic capability to strategic business thinking and execution.
  • Maintain the Highest EHS standards of different sites visited.
  • Travel for internal meetings and visits to QH manufacturing sites (grease plants, ,etc.,) on periodic basis.
  • Visits customers site, OEMs, and existing and prospective partners for tours, demonstrations, and to support commercial pitch at C suite level as needed.
