ROLE SUMMARY

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common and pervasive cause of acute respiratory illness. The virus is highly contagious and affects the lungs and airways. Infections occur in people of all ages and can feel like the common cold for most young adults, but for infants, the immunocompromised, and older adults, it can be potentially life-threatening. Each year, it is estimated that more than 177,000 older adults are hospitalized and 14,000 of them die in the United States due to RSV. The disease burden of RSV in children is also staggering. Globally, there are an estimated 33 million cases of RSV annually in children less than 5 years of age, with about 3 million hospitalized and up to approximately 120,000 dying each year from complications associated with the infection.
Pfizer's RSV vaccine, ABRYSVO, was recently approved in the US, EU, UK and Argentina for the prevention of RSV in older adults and infants via maternal vaccination. Additional global regulatory filings are underway with approvals anticipated worldwide throughout 2024 and beyond. ABRYSVO's Maternal indication is set to become a key revenue driver to Pfizer, but more importantly deliver on 6 decades of research to impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of infants who are at risk of RSV.
Given a dynamic and rapidly evolving competitive landscape, success will rely on speed to market, robust clinical data and differentiation, strong recommendations, and establishing Pfizer leadership. Reporting into the Global Marketing Lead, Maternal Vaccines, the Global Marketing Director, Med Ed Lead, will play a critical role in the development and execution of the global launch strategy for ABRYSVO Maternal along with other members of the Global Maternal Marketing and cross-functional RSV team. The ideal candidate will bring strong HCP marketing expertise (global and/or regional/country), Med Ed experience, vaccine experience, launch experience, and demonstrate an ability to build and execute strategies and initiatives that maximize brand value. To support a global launch the selected candidate will need to understand the market and customer journey through deep & robust insights and deliver strategies that build upon the strong launch trajectory and set ABRYSVO maternal up for long-term growth across the globe. The candidate will partner strategically with regional Commercial offices and key priority markets across US, IDM and EM - as such the candidate should have a proven track record of working in a matrix team environment, with multiple country, marketing, and cross-functional partners.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In partnership with the commercial and cross-functional team, establish MedEd strategy including but not limited to KOL network and engagement plan, coordination of HCP advisory boards/ panels, and KOL stakeholder engagements
  • Lead RSV maternal global congress strategy & execution
  • Thoughtfully assess market landscape to build upon the strategic narrative to raise awareness of the burden of disease and importance of prevention for RSV
  • Lead RSV Maternal Global KOL/Speaker Management & program strategy
  • Define key value proposition and differentiation of Pfizer RSV Vaccine across stakeholder audiences, including HCPs, payers, patients, regulators, and policy makers
  • Ensure coordination of the market development strategy at the global, regional and local levels and ensure consistency of approach and implementation
  • Support IDM, EM and US teams to create local Market Development implementation plans including but not limited to evolution of unbranded omnichannel campaign & messaging
  • Generate insights and define implications to build the foundation for a differentiated core message platform to be used in global campaign evolution and HCP & MedEd strategies
  • Collaborate within commercial team and markets to build strategic core claims based on stakeholder needs, and ensure alignment with clinical program, regulatory strategy and label, and real-world data plan to support key claims
  • Partner with BAI and priority markets to define vision of success and KPIs for tracking impact and progress
  • Liaise with key global cross functional stakeholders involved in the development and approval of resources including but not limited to legal, regulatory, and medical colleagues
  • Manage Med Ed agency and co-manage agency of record, ensuring clear and robust scopes of work, appropriate staffing, excellence in execution, and timely and efficient budget management
  • Continually monitor competitive landscape and maintain updated knowledge about competitor clinical data and timelines and relevant implications for ABRYSVO Maternal
  • Support the annual operating & tactical plan process

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in marketing, strategy and new product launch
  • Strategic cross functional leadership experience including in-market experience and above country/regional scope
  • Ability to focus in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and support the team through key strategic decisions
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills including ability to identify and prioritize strategic challenges and balance short term needs with long-term vision
  • Proven record of identifying customer needs, extracting key insights, and translating these into meaningful value propositions, and tactics
  • Ability to uncover insights, synthesize and evaluate information, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
  • Demonstrated success in independently developing, executing, and measuring cross-channel HCP, Consumer and/or MedEd marketing programs
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across different functions and colleagues/groups and to lead by influence to effectively develop and implement strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, action-driven and creative
  • Must be mature, self-driven, have exceptional learning agility and a high degree of comfort with ambiguity and complexity. Track record of pushing boundaries and not accepting status quo.

    • Availability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
