- Positioning ING’s various front office teams across North America (for example DCM, Acquisition Finance and Sector Coverage teams) with value-add, company bespoke, rating insight within the context of marketing processes
- Live execution of external advisory mandates for key ING clients, often in conjunction with a front office transaction such as a senior DCM role. This typically involves obtaining an external rating for a company and guiding the client on how to achieve that goal effectively.
- Providing internal rating views on various transactions and structures internally
- Generally acting as a center of technical expertise related to external ratings and their implications
- You assist in the origination of new business opportunities by preparing and delivering client presentations, conducting sector, company and ratings research, as well as preparing preliminary credit ratings analysis
- You produce analysis of rated peers (core to forming a rating view)
- You support the execution efforts on ratings advisory mandates and assist the team in ensuring timely and successful ratings advisory delivery, working directly with senior team members
- You are responsible for preparing Ratings Advisory model template and other ratings-related templates
- You liaise closely with colleagues in other CM&A departments to deliver integrated solutions to ING’s clients
- You actively participate in client meetings and build your business insight and interpersonal skills
- Prepare PowerPoint slides for marketing ING’s USPP product to a variety of clients, often requiring customization by sector and/or issuer type
- Understand peer analysis in a variety of sectors
- Prepare indicative pricing for all client meetings, calls or market updates
- Stay up to date on new issue volumes in the USPP market and maintain new issue database for quick analysis and searches in preparation for client meetings
- Prepare written weekly market updates encompassing macro trends affecting issuance for clients
- Maintain databases and client logs to actively manage a pipeline of prospective issuers
- Prepare materials during execution of transaction including: market update calls, working group lists, indicative pricing and comps and pending items/priority items lists during execution
- Liaise internally with ING colleagues, clients and other agent banks, as relevant
- Prepare internal communications regarding USPP product
- The above will lead to a solid understanding of the workings of the USPP as a debt Capital Markets product and ING’s client base
- You hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Business, Economics, Finance, or Advance Mathematics with excellent results
- A Masters in Business Administration or a CFA is a plus but not required
- You have 3 or more years of experience in ratings, corporate or investment banking, or debt Capital Markets
- You have, or are expected to obtain in short order, Series 7 or 79, and 63 registrations
- You have experience / understanding of accounting and financial analysis, corporate credit risk, DCM and Leveraged Finance
- You are adept at performing financial and ratings analysis with excellent modelling and analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills with a desire to automate as much as possible for greater efficiency
- Working knowledge of Bloomberg a plus
- You have excellent analytical, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- You possess the ability to deliver with efficiency and effectiveness, often with minimal day-to-day oversight
- You have an exceptional eye for detail
- You demonstrate determination and dedication towards achieving your results often under tight timelines
- You are able to manage competing priorities and assignments
- You take initiative and ask questions when necessary
- You are willing to go above and beyond for the sake of the team and client’s objectives
- Proven track record of performing at the highest levels of review and appraisal metrics
