Job Description

The AECOM Germantown, MD office is actively seeking a creative, highly talented GIS specialist for immediate employment. The GIS/Mapping Specialist will assist with mapping activities related to water resource projects, including watershed studies, floodplain management, and GIS-related projects typically for Federal and municipal clients.  The specialist will conduct production tasks with potential to work on a wide range of projects that vary in complexity and clientele.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• GIS analysis and map production for a wide variety of engineering, geospatial and environmental projects
• Database administration and design using both geospatial and non-spatial data
• Proactively evaluating optimal and efficient solutions to geospatial problems on projects
• Computer modeling and GIS work related to flooding per FEMA guidelines and standards

Qualifications

B.S. Degree with course work in computer science/programming and geography.

 

Preferred Qualifications :

• Knowledge and experience in Esri products including 3D and Spatial Analyst extension

• Familiar with GIS production environments

• Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills

• Strong work ethic and professional demeanor

• Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative

• Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
