GIS Technician
Job Description:
The successful candidate will serve as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician to support the U.S. Army Reserve, 99th Readiness Division (DIV (R)), Directorate of Public Works, CAD/GIS/SI Division. This is a civilian, full time contract position primarily responsible to assist the IGI&S Coordinator/GIS Manager in providing GIS support through the development of maps, graphs, figures, and other deliverables.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop ad-hoc digital and hard copy maps. Exhibits upon request for presentations and meetings
- Utilize external and internal GIS data sources to support mapping objectives and readiness
- Maintain the existing enterprise GIS database by identifying and/or updating U.S. Army Reserve assets and other significant entities through technical specifications and standards. Must be able to comprehend and interpret maps and engineering drawings
- Field survey exterior U.S. Army Reserve assets using Trimble GPS technology and post-process the collected data using Trimble software for incorporation into the enterprise GIS database
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field preferred
- Knowledge and experience using ESRI's ArcGIS 10.x suite of mapping products and applications including, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Spatial Analyst and Network Analyst
- Familiarity with Trimble GPS equipment and software preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
- At least 2 years of experience utilizing ESRI's mapping products and web applications
- Must be experienced with data creation and editing as well as possess strong cartographic skills with a proven ability to produce high-quality GIS maps and figures
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience using Python and Model Builder preferred but not required
- GISP is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with CAD software and data preferred but not required
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a government background investigation
