Job Title: GIS Technician

Position DescriptionThis position will be responsible for editing and maintaining several GIS layers using ArcGIS Pro. The selected candidate should have experience reading legal property documents containing metes & bounds (legal description) and converting this information into GIS using coordinate geometry (cogo). The candidate should also have excellent GIS analysis and communication skills as they will be working with external entities to obtain and clarify information. The position will be allowed to work remotely (from home) but must maintain residence within the State of Arizona. The candidate for this position will be required to create and maintain GIS datasets based on various sources of information including and primarily from property based legal descriptions. This candidate will also need to be capable of conducting data and or mapping research to ensure data accuracy, have good oral and communications skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment. The contractor will be trained on and working on specific GIS layers which will require the use and knowledge of cogo. The data is critical to ADOR and used to calculated tax rates of business across the state. The consultant will be expected to resolve any questions pertaining to data editing and related expectations. If the consultant has any technical questions on "how to", other GIS staff members are expected to reply and assist as quickly as possible. Consultant will be expected to send two emails to the supervisor on a daily basis. First email will state the goals/expectations for the day and the second will state the accomplishments for the day. Working remotely requires good communication skills and quick responses to others communication attempts.Skills Required1. Editing GIS data using ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro 2. Each team member has data assigned to maintain. Close communication between team members is established through Google Chat, GMail and weekly GIS Team meetings. Team members assist each other with questions and issues on a daily basis. If the role is remote, do you have daily or weekly team meetings? The role is remote but the candidate has to reside in the State of Arizona. The team has a weekly meeting and team members also attend an additional team meeting with roughly 20 staff members in attendance.

Salary: $18.19 - $40.97 per hour
