Gis System Administrator

Who we are looking for...
This position is responsible for the overall system administration, maintenance, and support for England-Thims & Miller, Inc.'s (ETM) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software infrastructure for internal and external clients. The individual in this position must have deep knowledge and experience working with GIS and Information Technology (IT). This role must critically think about the overall GIS Information Systems infrastructure and will actively monitor, report, troubleshoot and develop new opportunities to streamline the GIS infrastructure.
Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, IT, engineering, computer science or related field and a minimum of ten (10) years experience in GIS applications
• Master's degree in geography, GIS, IT, engineering, computer science or related field is preferred
• GIS Professional (GISP) Certificate or other related Technical Certification

GIS Infrastructure Deployment:

• Design, build, administer and manage enterprise level IT/GIS database, systems and design to support
• internal and external clients
• Facilitate and oversee software maintenance and installation following technical guidelines
• Support internal or external client solutions and services for geospatial technologies, as required
• Assist with publishing and management of web services content for Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
• deployments
• Support internal or external software deployment, installation, updates, and overall system maintenance

Internal Staff:

• Provide system support documentation to maintain standard operating procedures
• Provide training on the use of GIS related software, applications, and documents
• Diagnose and resolve any hardware, software, networking or system issues that arise with GIS staff
• ArcGIS Credential management for GIS staff

Maintenance & Upgrades:

• Monitor and maintain on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Monitor cost and usage reports. Advise management of upgrades and/or needs of the infrastructure.
• Conduct performance tuning and identify bottlenecks across an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment
• Create programming scripts to automate administrative workflows and support database/ system
• maintenance
• Leads internal infrastructure and database projects
• Assist with the processing of non-spatial data for use in GIS (i.e., FME, Arcade and / or Python)

GST Projects:

• Supports new and existing projects, ensuring deliverables and milestones are met within reasonable time
• Provides both GIS and asset management support services for clients, as required
• Leads and/or supports new initiatives and service offerings
• Leads internal team meetings related to assigned projects and job responsibilities; reports to management on a consistent basis.

Relationships & Industry:

• Own & maintain back-end infrastructure partner relationships
• Stay current and advise management on latest trends and technology related to GIS Infrastructure Maintenance
• Lead and/or support marketing efforts to showcase work, products and projects that we have performed or selling

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of system and database design knowledge
• Advanced expertise in Esri's ArcGIS suite of products for desktop, enterprise, online, following recommended implementation patterns
• Experience using SQL Server Management Studio to Software
• Knowledge of IT best practices related security, networking, risks, and system administration
• Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud-based environments (i.e., Microsoft Azure, AWS, etc.)
• Experience working independently on advanced projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Works independently with minimal guidance and understand basic project management techniques
• Ability to interpret internal and external needs for geospatial solutions

Software & Languages

• ArcGIS 10.x ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro
• ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS
• Cartegraph Asset Management experience is a plus
• ArcGIS Workflow Manager experience is a plus
• ArcGIS Data Reviewer experience is a plus
• Python, HTML5, Arcade, CSS, C++ Java, and JavaScript
• SQL (MS and Oracle) and PostgreSQL
• Microsoft Windows Server and Linux
• AWS and Azure experience is a plus
