DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker international is seeking an enthusiastic GIS Specialist to join our Geospatial team within the National Geospatial Practice We have offices nationwide and provide the flexibility to work from home, the office, or a hybrid schedule. The candidate will leverage the latest GIS technology to creatively problem solve, perform spatial analysis, and produce compelling maps and mapping applications. The ideal candidate will have experience using ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online and the desire to learn and grow new geospatial technology skills meeting the fast pace of technology and project demands. Experience with raster datasets and advanced geoprocessing skills is a must. Experience using or developing mobile GIS applications such as Collector, Survey123 or GIS Field Maps is preferred. Overall, as successful candidate must possess excellent problem-solving capabilities, have a collaborative mindset, be eager to learn new skills and be adaptable in the field.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Perform Spatial Analysis using Esri Software (such as linear referencing, line of sight, and spatial statistics)
  • Perform data analysis and effectively communicate results in reports and permit applications
  • Create and edit features in Esri ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro Software
  • Maintain and manage project specific spatial data
  • Configuring ESRI hub and storymaps
  • Create static maps for reports, permits, and presentations
  • Ensure proper coordinate systems and transformations are applied and documented for spatial data integrity
  • Support data interoperability between GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Google Earth, and other formats
  • Create dynamic cartographic products such as feature service layers and web map applications
  • Support field data collection and navigation through GPS technology and mobile apps
  • Field assistant for wetland delineations, water resources, asset management and other engineering/environmental field programs

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology, Planning, Environmental Sciences, Surveying, or another related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with geographic concepts and GIS software
  • Experience using Esri GIS software including ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with Mobile and Web Application Development is preferred but not required
  • Experience working with CAD data in the GIS environment, preferred
  • Self-motivated to stay informed on geospatial technology advances and desire to learn cross discipline skill sets
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey spatial information to non-GIS users is essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint).

COMPENSATION

The range for this role is $72,000-104,000, depending on the skills of the incoming candidate and the geographic location.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

United States citizen or legally able to work in the U.S. (Required)The GIS Analyst will join the Applied Technologies team in our Consulting and Technology Services vertical. He/she/they will be involved in a variety of GIS projects across the country. Responsibilities include hands-on evaluation and manipulation of spatial and attribute information, data conversion, cartographic mapping, and a willingness to increase skillsets with training, research, and working with teammates on potentially complex projects.
