NexGen is currently seeking a GIS Engineer who would develop and modify scalable architecture to support applications and assist in the design and management of an organization's GIS systems, applications, policies, and strategy. This position would incorporate security management and privacy requirements into GIS service offerings. This individual will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen and client teams, including but not limited to, domain experts and developers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Ensure enterprise GIS systems are supported by guaranteeing the accuracy and effectiveness of the system, meeting business and customer requirements, monitoring the performance of systems, verifying, and reviewing system related documents/reports, including installation to meet requirements of all specified task as identified below.
Design, implement and maintain enterprise GIS systems:
Incorporate a variety of information streams with existing GIS data and IT infrastructure.
Plan and design enterprise GIS systems infrastructure in an on-premises and cloud environment using knowledge of ArcGIS from an IT context (such as backup, installation, data restore, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud computing, validation).
Monitor the performance of systems and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency and functionality.
Verify and review system related documents/reports, including installation procedures.
Maintain geospatial databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency. Create and manage data schemas, relationships, and metadata.
Troubleshoot issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture for on-premises and cloud platforms.
GIS engineering coordination. Tasks may include:
Work collaboratively with a variety of vendors’ technical support teams and IT, data center, and related staff.
Communicate with end users reporting issues related to ArcGIS Enterprise/open source and related systems.
Develop custom GIS tools to automate workflows, enhance GIS functionality, and optimize data processing.
Design controls and processes that utilize available audit tools.
Maintain up-to-date and extensive knowledge of ESRI products and technology.
Other duties may be assigned.
Technical Skills:
Experience with the following systems/protocols/scripting languages to plan and design the GIS systems infrastructure as well as implement various hardware and software to meet requirements:
ESRI desktop, server, web, and mobile mapping technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Collector for ArcGIS, Story Maps, Field Maps, and Survey 123.
Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Enterprise Geodatabases.
Front-end, back-end or automation programming and scripting experience with: Python, JavaScript, Swift, Kotlin, HTML5 PowerShell, Ansible, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Windows operating system based cloud environments, and basic network administration.
Familiar with Agile methodologies.
Desired Skills:
Work experience within the federal government.
Knowledge of commonly applied standards including the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC).
Additional Requirements:
The candidate should also possess strong oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills and should be a team player.
The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
US citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum three years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline with two to three years of related experience.

Compensation: $75,000-102,000 per year (Dependent on Experience)
