GIS Architect - Remote
Location: Remote (with potential to be onsite occasionally or full time as required)
Full Time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm

Agility Consultants is currently seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented GIS Architect to provide guidance and expertise in implementing and using GIS technology solutions. This position, working closely with the client and GIS staff, designs, develops, implements, and maintains highly functional GIS systems that operate at optimal capacity. The GIS Architect also assists co-workers in using GIS applications and software.
Job Duties:
Analyzes the current programming and system for operational processes, needs and inefficiencies
Researches and evaluates solutions to meet the needs of the users and the project’s objectives
Develops business and functional requirements
Modifies/designs, develops, and implements GIS applications and tools that resolve problems and meet project’s needs and objectives
Builds applications using best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance
Builds applications to be visually appealing and intuitive for end users
Tests and maintains architecture and supporting infrastructure
Develops and maintains GIS data models, databases, and web services to support GIS analysis
Finds/identifies data patterns
Analyzes and reports to management and team members data and user trends
Provides timely and effective helpdesk support to field users
Ensures all design, development and implementation meets regulatory and reporting requirements and security best practices
Creates architecture models and diagrams
Thoroughly documents the initial analysis, solutions, programming, ongoing issues, and other key data
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, environmental science, or a related field
Minimum of ten years of experience as a GIS Architect with direct experience in designing, developing, implementing, and testing Geospatial databases, APIs, Web Services, and GIS web applications
Must possess at least 2 of the following certifications: Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP); ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations; The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF); and/or AWS Solutions Architect
Comprehensive experience in and understanding of ESRI API’s, including the REST API, and Service Oriented Architecture
Demonstrated knowledge of business processes, IT systems, and solutions
Proficient in Geospatial databases, APIs, Web Services, and GIS web applications
Working knowledge of designing, developing, and deploying a robust J2EE™ or .NET™ compliant enterprise web application and shared services in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment
Working knowledge of the software engineering approach, based on object-oriented methodology, design patterns, and layered application architecture; J2EE™ or .NET™ performance issues and performance testing; web application vulnerabilities and remediations; Graphical User Interface (GUI) development and accessibility (Section 508) standards and techniques; automated builds and testing (JUnit©, Maven©, Hudson©, and others); database products including SQL Server™ and Oracle©; SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)™; Eclipse© and JBoss©; use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, and UML™ techniques; design and coding walkthroughs; geospatial and standard data modeling techniques; Transaction Management Principles to ensure data integrity; and the relationship between database design and application performance
Working knowledge of ESRI SDE™; C#™ and .NET™; ArcGIS Server API™; ArcGIS Server development; Python©; Silverlight™; HTML5™; JavaScript™; and Java©
Experience with Geoprocessing using various forms of Python Library ArcPy for tool creation and publishing to ArcGIS Enterprise
Proficient in leveraging REST APIs and performing scripting against databases and geodatabases
Ability to leverage cloud technologies, particularly AWS, to deploy and manage geospatial services and resources
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding and knowledge of regulatory and reporting requirements
Excellent leadership, research, and analytical skills
Ability to evaluate different systems/solutions and determine most effective option
Proven communication skills and ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical team
Ability to write source material in an accurate, concise, and a clear manner
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to operate within the timelines
Ability to stay abreast of industry best practices and innovative systems, processes, procedures, and technology
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others as well as a demonstrated ability to work independently
