RES is looking for a GIS Analyst sitting in our Nashville, TN, Macon, GA or Athens, GA office.
The mission: our growth forecast in the South-Eastern region is impressive. Therefore, our team needs an additional extra set of hands, to help execute GIS projects related to ecological restoration, water resource solutions, and other projects within an ESRI enterprise system.
What your day-to-day might look like?Your work product (maps and visuals) will be used to support permit applications, land negotiations, etc. How will you do that?
First off, you will be performing large scale site searches to identify potential sites for various ecological offsets.
Once a site is found, you will perform advanced site suitability and project impact analysis, through geospatial data acquisition. You will be configuring ESRI products, GPS units, various smart devices, and UAVs for field data collection, management, analysis, and visualization, so advanced experience with ESRI products is a must.
You will need an advanced knowledge of GIS software functionalities to create, update, and share GIS data in web and desktop environments. Be ready to showcase your ability to solve complex problems using innovative solutions through advanced GIS analysis.
Other duties will include support and training for all GIS users, and configuration of intuitive web-based solutions for use by non-GIS experts; development of SOPs and best practices for the department; and assistant with Enterprise GIS management.
QualificationsWe would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:
- BS/BA
- Two years' professional experience with ESRI's suite of products
- Understanding of spatial analysis, modeling, and statistics, including terrain modeling and analysis
- Understanding of remote sensing techniques and sensors; image processing, storage, and distribution
- Experience creating GIS-based workflows
- Experience using Python and/or SQL
What will make you stand out?
- Master's Degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, or related field
- Five or more years of working with GIS, ESRI's suite of products, and remote sensing
- Applied GIS experience within utility, engineering, and natural science field
