Description
SAIC is looking a GIS Analyst to develop and Maintain Spatial Databases in support of Fort Bliss Directorate of Public Works located in El Paso, TX.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the DPW staff in data queries using internal and external data, develop Spatial Databases for use on projects; analyze and edit spatial features for database consolidation, develop GPS-based data collection procedures; perform data mining through DoD resources; and, populate and maintain existing Geodatabases for environment asset management projects that will require GIS mapping and Geodatabase applications, ArcGIS Server map, prepare metadata and Geodatabase administration.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
LIAISON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more related experience. BS in Geography or field related to work that is required by DPW such as biology, engineering, ecology, etc.
- Knowledge of enterprise geodatabases.
- Experience with ArcGIS, ArcMap, geospatial analysis.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products like Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills in making the appropriate technical decisions.
- Must be motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to produce quality results in an evolving, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Task and customer oriented.
- Demonstrated evidence of initiative and self-starting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and team cooperation.
CLEARANCE:
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
