POSITION SUMMARY: The GIS Analyst II utilizes Geographic Information Systems to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location. The GIS Analyst II is responsible for advising internal customers and supporting higher lever GIS Analyst positions. Duties include intermediate spatial analytics, data administration and analytics, static and digital map quality control, intermediate mapping application design, and acting as a lead consultant on GIS initiatives. The GIS Analyst II supports the management team and the GIS analysts in the Operations Support department in their efforts to increase routing efficiencies, revenue, and profit opportunities as well as to report upon historical performance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs quality control checks of GIS data to ensure data integrity.
- Assists in consultation sessions with internal customers to determine GIS needs and requirements.
- Works with GIS Programmer to help design and manage custom developed automation solutions.
- Works on complex GIS initiatives and require advanced techniques, modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices.
- Works independently as well as within a project team to execute and deliver GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity.
- Ability to act as GIS Project Manager on company initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and establish rapport with a diverse array of people.
- Acts as GIS subject matter expert to junior members of the GIS team and internal customers.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities, and experience.
- Project management experience.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS technologies, including but not limited to ESRI's ArcDesktop and associated extensions.
- Ability to write, modify, and read Basic level SQL Queries.
- Ability to write, modify, and read Basic Level Python Scripting.
- Ability to create and present basic presentations to peers and internal customers.
- Intermediate working ability in Microsoft products; including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in order to meet individual goals and deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude for this dynamic environment.
- Solid report writing and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
- Ability to assist with complex projects within interdisciplinary teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems.
