The Role of a CAPEX Engineer is to build, maintain and update the real time tracking of all BU CAPEX projects globally, both under GIE, and local site control. The primary goal of the CAPEX Engineer is to support a real-time and comprehensive view of the multi-year CAPEX Plan and spending, spanning the entire business.
Lead the design of and maintain a tracking system that reaches within projects down to the Asset level.
Collaborate with Leaders in PMO and Project Leaders to establish spending plans for each asset within a project. Project that spending through the life of the project, and work with leaders to update that projection regularly to maintain a comprehensive and real-time view of all BU CAPEX.
Access SAP and any other necessary systems to verify and track actual spend against projections.
At least Monthly, perhaps more frequently, provide PMOs and Site leaders with previously projected spending plans, and follow-up throughout the month to verify accuracy of the plan, and make adjustments where necessary to maintain budget to plan.
Analyze variance-to-plan and escalate issues through EPS and PMO.
Take the Project Level data and roll-up to a BU tracker.
Engage with digital financial tools (as established and approved) to roll BU data into a BDX-level tracking system.
Participate with the BU and Finance in Budget and ASR process, capturing the outcomes that will guide the CAPEX plan.
Engage with Finance to provide the most current data for quarterly projections, yearly budget and ASR planning.
Work with other EPS team members to align CAPEX data with project Milestones and Resources.
Collaborate with the Finance team on accruals, cross charges and other special circumstances that affect spending and projections.
Analyze the financial data looking for opportunities and identifying anomalies for investigation.
Participate in the evaluation/testing of any new tools or software for project and CAPEX tracking.
Development of tools and processes to aid in CAPEX tracking and understanding.
Development of tools for tracking engineering resources and cost applied to projects and CAPEX.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Minimum Education:
BS degree in Engineering, other fields considered based on experience.
Understanding of lean principles and a broad understanding of manufacturing and CAPEX system.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum three(3) years of manufacturing experience.
Good command of basic office tools – focus on Excel (use of Pivot Tables, formulas, macros, etc.)
Successful track record of managing complex tasks in a matrix environment.
Able to demonstrate the ability to assimilate data and present clear outcomes and proposals.
Budget experience in tracking a large portfolio of projects and several million dollars of CAPEX.
Team member who has proven track record of successfully delivering value.
Other:Fluent in English both written and verbal
