SUMMARY
As a Geotechnical Staff Engineer, you're the hands-on expert driving groundbreaking projects. Your profound knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation design, and hands-on experience in site assessments are the keystones of our engineering endeavors. Join us in the thrilling world of innovation, where your technical expertise shapes the building blocks of progress. This position reports to the Geotechnical Manager.
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for helping staff in all aspects of geotechnical evaluation
- Assist in observing test pits as well as perform field resistivity testing and pile load testing on the project site
- Observe geotechnical samples to classify soils and create soil boring logs
- Help determine the proper laboratory tests based on soil and project type
- Compile and review geotechnical data and write geotechnical reports
- Participate in preparation of proposals or bid documents
- Peer review other engineer’s designs and calculations if requested
- A strong geotechnical academic background and EIT certificate are preferred
- Previous experience in the solar industry is advantageous
- Candidate should have an appreciation and understanding for field and consulting work and be able to work independently and jointly with senior level staff
- Discipline-specific knowledge based on experience and relevant coursework
- Expectation is to focus on learning and gaining knowledge
- Actively participates in and contributes to department and project team discussions
- Clearly communicates what they can and can’t do and asks for help when needed. A Staff Engineer is not expected to know how to do everything
- Provides technical and procedural guidance to less experienced Staff Engineers
- Perform their tasks and speak up if there are questions or issues that need to be resolved
- Encouraged to train, learn, and look for strengths to develop that can lead to leadership opportunities
- Looks for opportunities to provide leadership and take responsibility in areas that align with skillset
- Motivated to improve quality and efficiency
- Desire to increase project responsibilities
- Organized and methodical
- Takes ownership of tasks assigned to them and sees them through to 100% completion
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Geology degree required
- 0 to 3 years’ experience working in the geotechnical field
