Summary

Job Title:Geospatial Project Manager

Department: Flatwater Inc.

Reports to:Project Manager

Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $100,000 - $118,000

Location: Remote

 

Flatwater Inc. is looking to fill this position with the most qualified applicant, Flatwater is a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc. the economic development company of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. As a Geospatial Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating geospatial and remote sensing projects. Additionally, the Geospatial Project Manager will contribute to technology evaluation and development through the preparation of publications, technical reports, and geospatial training materials.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires an individual with exceptional problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of geospatial technologies, and the ability to guide and oversee complex projects. The Geospatial Principal Investigator will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of projects, providing technical recommendations, and ensuring the successful execution of geospatial initiatives in alignment with the mission of the Forest Service.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Provide expert-level project management for geospatial and remote sensing projects.
  • Document and manage project tasks, schedules, and resources effectively.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure timely completion within specified parameters of all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Identify constraints, estimate effort levels, and report project accomplishments to clients.
  • Assess priorities and balance workloads to allocate staff resources effectively.
  • Demonstrate experience working with disparate sources of airborne or satellite imagery types.
  • Assess, map, monitor, and inventory natural resources using geospatial analysis techniques.
  • Utilize expertise in enterprise geospatial software applications, including ERDAS Imagine, eCognition, Summit Evolution, Agisoft Metashape, Python, and Esri ArcGIS.

 

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, client maintenance, supervision, and project development of geospatial/remote sensing projects.
  • Ability to assess priorities, balance workloads, and allocate staff resources effectively.
  • Expertise in preparing publications, technical reports, technology transfer, and geospatial training materials.
  • Proficient in communicating and coordinating effectively with a variety of agency stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to process, analyze, and model in enterprise geospatial software applications.
  • Skilled in working with disparate sources of airborne or satellite imagery types for natural resource assessment, mapping, monitoring, and inventory.
  • Experience in consulting on requirements identification, identifying constraints, estimating effort level, and reporting accomplishments.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Training or experience in project or program management with within geospatial sciences.
  • Bachelor's degree related to geography, geographic information systems, remote sensing, or physical/biological/environment/natural resource discipline with substantive coursework in geospatial analysis and modeling, and ten (10) years relevant work experience.

OR

Master's degree related to geography, GIS, remote sensing, or physical / biological / environmental discipline, including emphasis or coursework in geospatial analysis and modeling, and eight (8) years of relevant work experience.

OR

PhD degree related to geography, GIS, remote sensing, or physical / biological / environmental discipline, including emphasis or coursework in geospatial analysis and modeling, and five (5) years of relevant work experience.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees project staff for work required by the project.

 

WORK ENVIROMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

TRAVEL25% travel is expected for this position.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some weekend or evening hours may be necessary in emergency situations.
