Job description

Who you are: In your personal life you enjoy the outdoors whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, fishing, or skiing. You have a cheerful outlook, excellent work ethic, aptitude, and desire to learn new skills. You have a 4-year college degree in Natural Resources with a strong course emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and Statistics, or a degree in GIS, statistics, or related field with supporting coursework in natural resources. You have experience using Python, R, C++, or SQL. You may have experience processing and analyzing LIDAR data, processing Drone imagery, and GPS data collection. You can independently discern, analyze, and solve problems using computerized modeling techniques.

What the job is: The Geospatial Analyst will help with development, analysis and reporting for Green Diamond Resource Company's Habitat Conservation Plans, Safe Harbor Agreement, other landscape agreements and scientific monitoring and research resulting from those agency partnerships. This position is critical to the support of planning efforts used by these agreements which includes watershed studies on mass wasting, waste discharge requirements, Total Maximum Daily Loads, and wildlife and fisheries monitoring programs related to conservation planning and project evaluation. This position will help to develop, interpret, and present information supporting both Forestry and Operations as well as Conservation Planning goals at the Division level.

Here are some examples of the work this role will do:

  • Manage or assist in software development projects, which may use both external and internal resources.
  • Involved in the development of habitat suitability models in support of Conservation Planning goals.
  • Assists with the study design, data analysis, interpretation, and writing of scientific papers.
  • Provide leadership in ensuring that data information systems continue to develop and can provide comprehensive and accurate management support data. This requires the incumbent to be aware of evolving management information needs within the Conservation Planning department, changing software technology, forest industry trends, and the needs of operations personnel.
  • Develop, maintain, and report from existing and new databases serving Conservation Planning as well as other departments.
  • Serve as the on-site specialist in hardware and software used in geospatial systems and remote data collection.

Compensation Details: The Geospatial Analyst has progression levels. This level comes with annual pay of $66,400 to $99,600 depending on experience. The pay is just one part of Green Diamond's total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus and an individual performance-based bonus.

In addition, Green Diamond offers a generous benefit package to include medical/vision and dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan with match and profit sharing. Paid time off includes nine designated and up to two personal holidays, ten vacation days, ten sick days, 30 days parental leave, 3 days bereavement, an additional 2-day bereavement unpaid, jury duty, one volunteer day, and 5 days family care.
