Job Description:
ICF has an opening for a Geospatial Analyst working primarily with The Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) Program's Geospatial team. The DHS Program is a US Agency for International Development- (USAID) funded project that supports the collection of demographic and health data through nationally representative population and facility-based surveys in low- and middle-income countries.
The Geospatial Analyst will primarily focus on the preparation, processing and management of geospatial data collected under various types of DHS surveys. Tasks will include GPS processing, validating geographic data in surveys, map creation for reports and online tools, and basic spatial analysis.
The Analyst may be involved in other cross-cutting projects at ICF with a need for GIS support.
The Geospatial Analyst will report directly to the Geospatial Research Manager and will work closely with the other members of the Geospatial team. This full-time position will be based in Rockville, MD (in the Washington, DC metro area) and will be a hybrid position.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$64,372.00 - $109,432.00

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with survey managers, data processing specialists, and in-country organizations in the validation and processing of GPS data
- Provide geographic data management and validation support to projects
- Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various health indicators for publications, presentations, and webpages
- Update and maintain technical documentation
- Track and update the progress of GPS processing tasks
- Prepare geographic data for use in spatial analysis activities
- Participate in analysis activities and report writing
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in geography, GIS, computer science, mathematics, social science, or related field
- 2+ years' experience working with ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro to create maps and conduct spatial data processing (e.g., spatial joins, converting coordinates to shapefiles)
- Advanced proficiency in French
- 2+ years' experience cleaning data in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of GIS applications as it relates to health and population data
- 1+ year of experience with professional/technical writing (e.g., documenting procedures, professional correspondence, report writing, scientific writing)
- Experience training/teaching professional skills to adult learners
- Experience working with/in low- and middle-income countries
- Fluency in spoken and written French
- Experience documenting and sharing code (e.g., GitHub)
- Demonstrated knowledge of statistical software (e.g., Stata, Python, or R)
- Experience with raster data processing
- Experience in making maps according to standard style guidelines
- Experience in managing large datasets
- Experience working with QGIS

- Excellent organization and documentation skills (e.g., keeping folders organized, documenting processes)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage projects on a daily basis with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

- Ability to work effectively with other project staff, USAID, other donors, and international organizations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
