Job description

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is looking for an experienced Environmental Engineer with an established track record of successfully managing and implementing environmental site investigations, feasibility studies, remedial actions and site closures with a focus on Underground Storage Tank (UST) projects.

The successful candidate should have experience with UST systems removal, replacement, and installations, and will be expected to implement the work in accordance with client goals.  The successful candidate will identify additional services and/or support needed for the client and will leverage existing client relationships to grow work.  This position will fill a key position on our retail sites portfolio team, working with existing and new clients to develop our UST removal and remediation program within our Site Investigation and Remediation/Solid Waste (SI&R/SW) Service Line. Further opportunities for career growth are possible for a motivated and engaged candidate. This position has the opportunity to develop and manage teams to successfully deliver projects and obtain regulatory approvals for our client’s sites while mentoring junior staff and growing business.

The work we do is interesting and challenging. Our private sector client base is driven to address environment impacts in a strategic and regulatory responsible manner. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and grow business through the solid technical solutions BC is known to deliver (i.e., technical sales primarily through delivery not flashy marketing & sales). Our team focuses on private sector clients that are driven to take action and complete projects, providing service and value to our clients as a trusted partner. This distinction makes it fun and professionally rewarding to be part of the BC solution and to see your efforts come to fruition, leading the industry where others get stalled.

At BC, your contributions are immediately recognized both by the client and BC’s senior management. When you join BC, you will enjoy a unique and welcoming culture. You will find that we offer a non-hierarchical, flexible, collaborative, and supportive environment allowing you to do your best work. You will quickly become a trusted member of our team with mentors and confidantes throughout your career journey.

Primary responsibilities will include working directly with clients and growing business through the solid technical solutions and delivery of remediation projects with a focus on UST removal and site closure. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of serving clients directly, and executing and managing environmental projects for private sector clients. In this role you will work closely with strong technical experts throughout the nation and utilize resources throughout the company.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery.  Serve as a project manager for projects of varying size and scale.  Manage BC multi-disciplinary resources to deliver service and products across multiple projects.  Work with subcontractors to deliver projects on schedule and on-budget. • Client critical success factors.  Leverage existing BC client relationships to develop and maintain a deep understanding of the client’s critical success factors (CSFs) as well as the overall BC organization (including the various departments and employees).
  • Strategic Growth. Work with private BC SMEs and partners throughout the nation to identify new client future needs and respond appropriately to client future strategic goals and market conditions.  This role will have the opportunity to mentor a growing group of junior professionals, helping us to better serve our clients and realize more growth opportunities for our staff’s professional career.
  • Financial Information related to BC delivery.  Use BC’s WorkSmart+ Project Management System to track project performance, including scope, schedule, and budgets in accordance with key financial metrics.
  • Leadership.  Coordinate with other company leadership to help achieve company goals.
  • Visibility.  Promote BC’s external exposure, with an SI&R/SW emphasis, through support of selected regional and/or national conferences and committees.
  • Health and Safety. Help drive health and safety practices throughout all aspects of work for the candidate and others.
