LabCorp has a great opportunity for a Lab BasedGenetic Counselor to support our lab in Atlanta, GA. This is a position perfect for an organized, thorough, energetic Board Certified Genetic Counselor who is interested in genetics, client services, laboratory operations and business. This is a dynamic position that offers many opportunities for development and growth for a motivated Genetic Counselor. This Genetic Counselor will be part of our team of laboratory Genetic Counselors, Directors, and support staff. They will consult and coordinate with clients and laboratory personnel regarding genetic tests performed by our Atlanta-based lab specializing in rare diseases.
Please note this is a 100% remote position. Candidate can be located anywhere in the US. This is not a patient facing role.
The schedule for the position will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Responsibilities:
- Provide rare disease genetic testing expertise and support to clients/health care providers regarding test selection, test performance, and laboratory processes
- Review incoming specimens to ensure that appropriate testing has been ordered and that essential information about the patient has been provided
- Coordinate rare disease testing for clients, from receipt through reporting of results
- Coordinate complex testing, such as WES/WGS, RNA analysis and prenatal diagnosis
- Communicate abnormal test results to health care professionals and provide recommendations for appropriate follow-up
- Provide active guidance to clients, lab support staff and sales team through ongoing informal education, case conference presentations, and client in-services
- Collaborate on publications, product launches, marketing pieces and other projects as opportunities arise
Requirements:
- MS in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling
- ABGC board certification required
- Minimum 1 year Genetic Counseling experience (post completion of Masters program); 3 years experience highly preferred
- Lab Based Genetic Counseling highly desired
- Excellent communication skills, flexibility and the ability to multi-task are essential for this position
- Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Previous experience with LIS systems highly desired
- Ability to quickly learn new tasks
Pay Range: $82,000 – $115,000/year
