A Parts Counter person at a new car dealership plays a crucial role in assisting customers with their automotive parts needs. Here are the key responsibilities and duties associated with this position:
- Customer Service and Sales:
- Assists both retail customers and shop personnel in selecting the required parts.
- Provides friendly, professional, and efficient service.
- Informs customers about companion part requirements and any special offers.
- Ensures that customers are aware of the full product line available.
- Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other relevant information.
- Inventory Management:
- Reviews shop estimates to verify correct parts and pricing alignment.
- Pulls and fills orders from stock.
- Notifies the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or urgent shop materials.
- Locates out-of-stock parts from external sources and places emergency orders if necessary.
- Notifies service advisors and customers when special-ordered parts arrive.
- Ensures all parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers for delivery to the shop.
- Follows up on back-ordered parts.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Bills internal requests for parts on service repair orders.
- Handles payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
- Issues credits for returned parts, verifying original invoices.
- Maintains orderly records of repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
- Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Participates in training programs to stay updated on new products and updates.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Solicits assigned accounts by phone.
- Keeps the front and rear counter areas clean and organized.
- Cleans computer terminals and printers daily.
- Participates in maintaining a lost sales tracking program with the parts manager.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
