General Manager/Bartender Description:
This unique role at Big Boy entails being not just a General Manager but also a bartender. The Restaurant General Manager/Bartender is essential for maintaining the Big Boy Experience for our customers and team members. This dual role requires discretion in managing the overall operation of the store, with a significant portion of your time spent supervising, directing the workforce, and ensuring exceptional bartending service.
Restaurant General Manager/Bartender Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership
- Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling effective teamwork.
- Demonstrating a composed demeanor during high-volume or unusual events and ensuring smooth transitions for the team.
- Emphasizing a customer-first approach by training and holding team members accountable for providing outstanding customer service.
- Driving the implementation of company programs, motivating the team to meet operational and organizational objectives.
- Managing with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to Big Boy's guiding principles.
- Planning, delegating, and providing coaching and direction to the team to achieve operational excellence.
- Continuously evaluating store environment and business indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
Planning and Execution
- Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, overseeing execution, and measuring results.
- Monitoring and managing store staffing levels for both bartending and general management needs.
- Utilizing communication tools effectively and disseminating information to the team.
- Ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws for team members.
- Proactively seeking customer feedback and researching local markets to understand customer needs.
- Using operational tools to drive operational excellence.
- Leveraging external resources to support store operations and regional initiatives.
- Analyzing financial reports and addressing performance trends and issues in store performance.
Partner Development & Team Building
- Providing coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to team members and building effective teams.
- Actively managing team members through performance assessments, goal-setting, and feedback.
- Inspiring and challenging team members to achieve business results.
- Developing positive relationships with team members, addressing individual motivations, needs, and concerns.
- Ensuring team members adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Recognizing individual and team accomplishments through various methods of recognition.
- Demonstrating effective management principles and practices to create and maintain a successful store team.
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 2 years of Restaurant Management experience preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of food and beverage service industry experience in QSR and/or fast casual service preferred.
- Open availability, with the ability to work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
- Strong knowledge of fast casual service operations, including personnel management, food preparation, purchasing, inventory management, sanitation, health codes, and security.
- Proficiency in Profit and Loss Statements.
- Familiarity with restaurant management software and POS systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operating costs in line with budgets.
- Ability to obtain and maintain food handler’s certification card, alcohol awareness, and sheriff's card.
- Computer literacy skills.
- Ability to lift 45 lbs.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and delegation skills.
