Job Summary
Responsible for the professional, safe, and efficient management of The amenities, events, programs, and activities at the multi-generational center (The REC) and the indoor/outdoor aquatic facilities.
Essential Functions
1. Oversees all of The multi-generational center programs and activities and all operations involving aquatics programming and staff.
2. Makes final recommendations on hiring staff involved in events, programs and classes at the multi- generational center and aquatic programs; performs final approval of payroll timesheets for staff members.
3. Ensures staff’s adherence to City and department policies and procedures and the effective management and supervision of subordinates through hiring, training, evaluation and discipline and the establishment of safe and efficient working conditions.
4. Meets with staff and details assigned projects, allocated time and expected results.
5. Manages and maintains a qualified, friendly and professional staff using proper personnel procedures for recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, coaching and scheduling.
6. Makes recommendations on all independent contractor agreements.
7. Responsible for the development and oversight of budgets for recreation programs, Active Adults, The REC, Club All-Access and aquatic divisions; monitors and informs the Recreation Manager of all divisional budget expenditures.
8. Provides various program and activity reports for the Recreation Manager; approves recommendations for addition of programs, classes and equipment for multi-generational center, and aquatics.
9. Oversees multi-generational center and aquatic facility building care and maintenance; approves requisition of supplies and equipment.
10. Stays current with changes and trends in the professional field of parks and recreation through attendance of conferences, seminars, workshops, and involvement in the industries.
11. Ensures the City is offering quality recreational program offerings and a safe environment for participants.
12. Continually provides exceptional customer service, both in person and over the phone.
13. Acts as liaison with Human Resources for Employee Wellness program.
14. Acts as a City liaison to the Grapevine Senior Center Advisory Board. Attends meetings as a City representative, when possible.
15. Approves promotion of programs through press releases, newsletters and presentations.
16. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
17. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
18. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Required Skills
- General knowledge of computer and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and Amilia software.
- Requires ability to interview, train, and evaluate staff and to be creative in motivating employees and giving positive direction.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, leisure studies or related field plus a minimum of four years of progressively responsible supervisory and managerial experience in the community recreation field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of The job.
Additional education and training in complimentary fields such as safety, management, accounting, or personnel management is preferred.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
