Job Summary:
The General Manager will provide overall leadership for site level manufacturing operations to include manufacturing engineering, production, quality, receiving, service parts fulfillment, shipping, and facility maintenance within a diverse organization with solid and dotted line relationships with the collective goal of ensuring customer commitments are met for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct oversight of site-level manufacturing plant operations with a goal of continuous improvement to increase throughput while reducing the cost of goods sold.
- Develops site-level goals and objectives aligning with company goals and objectives with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
- Responsible for daily and monthly production planning while monitoring performance against the commitment to goal for units produced.
- Develops and manages the facility budget including capital expenditure projects and cost management.
- Documents processes in accordance with site specific quality management system requirements and document control system procedures.
- Leads investigations of process non-conformities to determine root cause and develop corrective actions with preventative measures.
- Promote employee engagement, training, and development to maximize safety, quality, productivity and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with a cross functional leadership team to create and execute effective employee relations processes and develop managers to maintain a positive working environment.
- Ensures compliance in all environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and procedures (including the company hazardous material program) to reach a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
- Maintains professional communication with internal and external parties while adhering to all company policies to eliminate and reduce exposure to liability
Competencies:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including quality management systems, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, lean manufacturing techniques, manufacturing operations, and logistics.
- Ability to lead and manage several projects simultaneously with a thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operations and material flow.
- Skilled in the use of manufacturing data systems.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, work rules, and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to act as a servant leader to train and develop others.
Work Environment:
This is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required.
Required Education & Experience:
Four year degree with at least 5+ years’ supervisory leadership experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree with 7+ years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment leading a diverse and cross functional team in the principles of lean manufacturing to include value steam mapping, reducing waste and the cost of goods sold while meeting customer commitments and meeting the daily safety, quality, delivery, and cost goal objectives. Willingness to be involved in community outreach efforts and serve as the face of the company at a local level.
