The General Maintenance Worker performs General Maintenance and repair of equipment, grounds, and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets; changing light bulbs and replacing faucet washers; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and floor or ceiling tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes; and, performing General Maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, DOT, and Safety Requirements and Training.
- Ensures proper documentation of materials, labor, and equipment used in the performance of work to ensure accurate invoicing.
- Acts as an integral part of the functions of the facility including all services involving building, structure, grounds, installed equipment, and utilities.
- Supports TQ efforts and processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Participates in the support of required changes in meeting the needs of the customer.
- Assists supervisor with safety initiatives to include training, investigation, reporting, and correcting hazards.
- Ensures environmental compliance, quality, and process controls as well as trouble resolution processes.
- Responsible for safety and security within the scope of work by proper utilization of equipment and adherence to established policies.
- Responsible for the safe operation of small powered equipment to maintain exterior grounds adjacent to the warehousing facility.
- Responsible for fostering a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and/or demeanor as dictated by Didlake policy and procedures.
- Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
- Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
- Completes and maintains all required Didlake training.

Requirements
Education
- High School diploma with an informal education that one would attain via work experience gained through employment with a General Contractor engaged in construction services; experience considered in lieu of education.
Skills and Abilities:
- Have at least three (3) years of progressive related experience in facility maintenance.
- Skilled in one or more in Electrical, Painting, or Carpentry with an understanding of maintenance and construction techniques which include preservation, restoration, and repair to facility structures.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Possess adequate communication skills including the ability to read, write and understand English and basic correspondence.
- Ability to recognize and sequence numbers and letters.
- Possess the ability to pass a background check.
- Familiarity with contracting, safety, and personnel management regulations.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts
and draw valid conclusions. - Must possess interpersonal skills to interact and train staff with disabilities.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
- Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- May be called upon to drive/transport to an alternate location between Perry Point and North East MD.
