The General Laborer is responsible for the kitting of production assemblies, the verification of materials, accurate counts, and miscellaneous tasks of the Material Handling department.  Shipping and receiving experience desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Unpacks and verifies all incoming material to HED by matching packing list to purchase order.
• Pulls and assembles parts required for production work orders and for other departments; making sure that correct parts and counts are kitted.
• Performs cycle counting.
• Fills out backorder form if necessary and processes accordingly.
• Reviews list of supplies (production and shipping) indicates if supplies are at quantity reorder points and submits to Buyer/Planner.
• Enters shipping information into SYSPRO system from shipping notice form and prints packing list from SYSPRO.
• Enters shipping information into the UPS online system, prints shipping documentation, and attaches to packages.
• Completes necessary shipment forms if shipment is shipped by an alternative method (i.e. FedX, Truck, etc.).
• Champion the culture by supporting the HED mission and modeling the core values and behaviors HED has chosen to define how employee's approach and complete their areas of responsibility.

• Other duties as assigned by the Inventory Control Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Student, High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Experience: With details, deadlines, and high-level of concentration.

Abilities:

• Proficiency with MS Office (outlook, word, and excel).
• Ability to speak and read the English language.
• Ability to operate pallet lift and climb stairs.
• High manual dexterity, ability to handle small components or parts.
• Ability to discern and differentiate colors on color-coded parts and reference materials.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly procedures and dimensional specifications, read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence, fill out forms, and standard reports.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, and diagram or mechanical drawing form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee is frequently required to perform repetitious tasks.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed in a light assembly/production environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may become heavy at times with the use of pneumatic tools and equipment.
